A hammam is an Eastern bath with gentle heat and almost one hundred percent humidity. The temperature here does not exceed ~50 °C, so the steam wraps the body delicately, without any sense of scorching — this format is loved by those who find a classic sauna too hot.
Why the hammam is worth trying
The warm moist steam spreads slowly through the body and starts a deep warming: the pores open, the skin is cleansed and becomes smooth and supple, swelling goes down. The mild heat is good for the respiratory and cardiovascular systems, and after the session comes that very state of a "feast for body and soul" people spoke of in ancient times.
How to do it properly
Go in for 15–20 minutes, rest on the warm stone, drink water or herbal tea. A scrub or a soap massage in the hammam is a classic of the genre: steamed skin responds to care twice as well. Finish with a cool shower — and you will feel light all over.
The hammam goes beautifully with a massage and the herbal steam barrel, and if you like contrasts we suggest comparing it with the dry Finnish sauna — we wrote about the difference between the formats in our guide to baths. The price is in the price list.
