The best souvenir from the mountains is not a fridge magnet but a jar of real Carpathian honey. At Ozero Vita you can buy honey from local apiaries — for yourself, for your tea and as a gift for family.
Why Carpathian honey is special
The Ukrainian Carpathians are known for their variety of herbs: nectar-bearing trees and shrubs, wild medicinal plants and honeydew (the sweet dew from leaves and bark) grow in an ecologically clean area, far from industry and main roads. That is why Carpathian honey contains over 400 organic and inorganic compounds — a natural product with a comparable composition is almost impossible to find.
How to choose it and how to use it
The colour of honey depends on the nectar source — from pale amber to dark brown honeydew honey; over time it crystallises while keeping all its nutrients. Honey is added to tea and baking, eaten "just as it is" with syrniki for breakfast, or used in homemade skin masks. Mountain honey is traditionally valued as support for the immune system — especially in winter.
You can try the honey at breakfast in the restaurant, and read more about the wonders of bees in the article on apitherapy and Carpathian honey. Ask the resort's front desk about honey for sale.
